Wednesday Pictures–Pinkalicious Cupcakes

One of Ellie’s favorite books is Pinkalicious, a book about a little girl who eats too many pink cupcakes and turns…pink.  She has eat green veggies to return to normal.

The book begins with the mom and daughter making pink cupcakes.  Considering Elanor’s love of “making mix,” I decided to get white cake mix and white cake frosting and tint them pink with her to make pink cupcakes as in the book.

First we got all our ingredients together.  Ellie poured the dry mix, the water, oil and egg whites into the mixing bowl. I put the bowl into the stand mixer and handled the powering of the mixer.

Ellie supervised as the mixer ran, and watched as I added food coloring.

Pink Mix!!!

But the important question–would the mix taste good?  E gave it a thumbs up.

Ellie helped me count out six cupcake papers for each tin, and put them in for me.  Then I scooped mix into the pans and placed them in the oven.

While we waited for the cupcakes to bake, we read Pinkalicious (what else?) and ate some left over mix.

We tinted the frosting pink

Finally they were ready to be frosted!

I let Ellie frost the first cupcake

Taste Test Time

The smile says it all 🙂

I was so excited to buy the pink mixer…one of my favorite colors too.

Pinkalicious is a great book if you know a young kid who is still into picture books 🙂
