The last time Elanor saw snow was the winter of 2009/2010.  She doesn’t remember it, and to be honest, it wasn’t a big hit with her.  She was in her snow suit, and I stood her in snow almost as high as her waist for about 5 seconds before she started to cry.

However, as she watches American TV, she has seen a lot of shows hype snow as part of their Christmas episodes or winter/seasonally themed episodes.  She has been fairly vocal about wanting to see it for real.

Imagine our dismay to find Massachusetts having one of its least snowy months in recent memory.  We were feeling pretty certain that we’d have to apologize for the weather.  Luckily, on our trip up to Maine to visit with my grandfather, there was a minor miracle–it had snowed earlier that day…and the next morning, there was still some snow dusting the ground, and more than enough to make Ellie happy.

We were also told that snow feels “slippery and slimy.”

I’m sad she missed out on the kind of snow that lets you make snow angels and snow men, but she had a great time. On the other hand, I’m glad that I never had to deal with shoveling a car out, or scraping ice off my car.

Wow, that’s awesome! I’m so jealous; I did find the 40s-ish weather at home to be totally disappointing, and even in Snow Belt Ohio all we got was a light dusting. I hope you guys are having a great time at home; have you made it to Wahlburgers yet? The crowds were insane when we went but it was pretty good.

Never made Wahlburgers…absolutely on my list for the next trip.

By the end of the trip it was frigid. Poor Rhi’s eyes got so huge every time we went out into the cold…as if she were trying to say “WHA? What? What? WTF MOMMY?!!!”
