Gong Xi Fa Cai (2014)

A happy and prosperous New Year to you all.

Screen Shot 2014-01-31 at 6.21.13 PMOf all the Year of the Horse greetings that have shown up on my FB feed, this was my favorite.  The artist is Eric Carle, who was the author and artist behind many famous children’s books like The Very Hungry Caterpillar, and Brown Bear Brown Bear What Do You See (which this blue horse is from).  Eric Carle published this picture on his FB page.

We were at the Singapore Zoo yesterday, and caught a Lion Dance on stilts.  I’ve seen the stilts lion dances on television, but never in person before yesterday.

Screen Shot 2014-01-31 at 6.19.53 PMAfterward, they said that people could get photos, and to go queue.  Elanor moved fast and was first in line before we had even decided as a group if we wanted to do it–a champion queue-er at age 5.  All of us but Rhiannon are smiling.  Rhi is giving the red lion a look of sheer “WHAT IS GOING ON?”

Screen Shot 2014-01-31 at 6.20.56 PMThis photo was taken in the garden of the zoo over by the water.

We were watching “A-Team” on Channel 5 (because I have a deep and abiding love of this bad movie) when a CNY song came on during the commercial break.  The video quality isn’t great-bad lighting and my cell phone aren’t the best combo. But when Rhi started trying to sing along, I had to take the video and share.

Gong Xi Fa Cai!
